New Thriller Series ‘War’
The mind behind Apple’s hit series Hijack is back with an exciting new project. George Kay is the creator of War, a legal drama featuring Dominic West and Sienna Miller. HBO and Sky have already greenlit the series for two seasons.
Stars and Storyline
In this gripping tale set against the backdrop of London’s prestigious legal world, West takes on the role of tech magnate Morgan Henderson, while Miller portrays Carla Duval, an acclaimed international actress and his estranged wife. The narrative kicks off with a “scandalous divorce case that sends shockwaves through boardrooms, bedrooms, and courtrooms alike.”
A Noteworthy Collaboration
This marks a reunion for West and Miller, who first appeared together in a 2005 stage adaptation of As You Like It and have collaborated in Burberry advertising campaigns.
The Legal Battle
The plot revolves around a fierce competition between two elite London law firms, Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne, as they engage in what is billed as the divorce case of the century. Both firms are convinced of their victory, but as the case unfolds, alliances will be tested and reputations will be at stake.
About the Series
War will feature a new legal case each season. The first season also includes appearances by Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya, Pip Torrens, and Archie Renaux.
The Team Behind ‘War’
George Kay, known for his work on the Idris Elba-led thriller Hijack and the Netflix series Lupin, will serve as showrunner. Ben Taylor, from Catastrophe, is attached as the director. The production is managed by New Pictures, the British company that previously collaborated with HBO and Sky on Catherine The Great. Kay’s own Observatory Pictures is also involved.
Broadcast Details
The series will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max in the U.S. It will also be available on HBO Max in Australia, while Sky will broadcast it across the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. International distribution rights are held by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
Creator’s Insight
Expressing his enthusiasm, Kay stated, “I am excited to be working with Sky and HBO – two homes for bold, ambitious storytelling – and our brilliant production team. War is a legal drama full of double crossing, scandal, twists and betrayal. The kind of TV show that made me want to write TV shows.”
